Kings Spring Camp & Draft Combine Continues Success

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings hosted their annual Spring Camp & Draft Combine this past weekend at Credit Union Place and the event was once again a success for the hockey club.

In total about 80 players attended the weekend which saw them compete in timed events on the opening day followed by an information session in the Lions Den at the Parkland Rec Complex.

The second day featured individual team practices before groups faced off against each other in the afternoon on Saturday. Then on Sunday more games were played to close out the weekend. Throughout the camp interviews were held with players as well.

"It was a real competitive weekend, our staff had opportunities to evaluate each player and got to know them individually through the interview process. Our listed players that attended camp were very impressive and we’re happy to see the progress they made this past season" stated Kings Head Scout & Director of Player Personnel Mitch Kirkup.

"It was a fun weekend, it usually is for Spring Camp" says Kings Director of Marketing & Media Relations Christian Laughland. "The Camp & Combine are quietly a great thing for the city of Dauphin. People from around the province and beyond come to town and spend money throughout the community, it's a great boost for the local economy. With that being said we would like to thank our two key sponsors for the weekend, Dauphin Super 8 and Smitty's Restaurant & Lounge."

The next big event for the Dauphin Kings will be the club's annual Par 3 Extravaganza. It happens Saturday June 9th at the Gilbert Plains Country Club. The tournament is not yet open for registration, but will be in the coming weeks so stay tuned for updates!
