Kings Snap Losing Skid, Beat Neepawa 3-2

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored 8:27 in and didn't give up the lead the rest of the way in a 3-2 victory over the Neepawa Titans Friday night.

The win snaps Dauphin's four game losing skid and is their first in the month of November.

In the opening 20 minutes the two teams were feeling each other out for the first few minutes. Eventually it was the Kings opening the scoring with Havryil Simchuk (9) being sprung on a breakaway by Nicholas Zaharias and Dylan Miko. The Ukrainian gave Dauphin a 1-0 advantage just over eight minutes in. That lead would carry over to the middle frame.

The second period saw the Kings continue their strong play. After killing an early Neepawa Power Play Dauphin would tally when a friendly bounce ended up on Josh Schmidt's stick just four minutes in. He would pot the puck for his third of the year. Neepawa would get three more man advantages and then score on their fourth opportunity late in the period, making it 2-1 Kings after 40.

In the third the Kings would restore their two goal lead when they got their first Power Play since the opening period. Daniel Helary continued his great start to the year, tallying his 8th. Neepawa would make it 3-2, however, a couple minutes later. The Kings would bend but not break in the final minutes and secure the two points.

Power Plays saw Dauphin go 1 for 2 on the night while the Titans finished 1 for 4.

Bryson Yaschyshyn grabbed the win in goal, stopping 30 of 32 shots. Dauphin had 38 total.

The Kings' record adjusts to 11-6-1-0 on the year. No time for rest as Dauphin plays their next contest Saturday night in Selkirk. They'll visit the Steelers at 7:30pm. The Kings' next home game is on November 21st when they host the Steinbach Pistons at Credit Union Place.
