DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings and Virden Oil Capitals played a tight affair Saturday night at Credit Union Place and in the end it was Dauphin picking up the 1-0 shootout victory.
Both teams were even for pretty much the whole contest with both goaltenders showing well. Dauphin's Cole Sheffield picked up the 32 save shut out while Jack Bechard scored the game winner in the shootout. Madden Murray had the Kings' other shootout marker in the breakaway contest.
Dauphin failed on three man advantages while Virden couldn't capitalize on two opportunities.
The win puts the Kings to 3-2-0-1 in the pre season. Now the club will focus on practice for the next six days before kicking off the season for real in the southern part of the province. They'll visit the Oil Capitals in Virden to open up the 2024-25 campaign before returning to Dauphin on Saturday for the Assiniboine College Home Opener. Game time both nights is 7:30PM!
