Kings secure dominating win

The Dauphin Kings led from start to finish on Monday night as they earned their 10th win of the season.

Backed by a stellar offensive performance from Mason Smith and a great goaltending effort from Cole Sheffield, Dauphin downed Waywayseecappo, 5-0, as the two teams wrapped up a home-and-home.

Smith recorded his first hat-trick with the Kings as he opened the scoring and then added two more in the third. Thomas Stewart and Matthew Gough also scored for Dauphin in the win.

The Kings ended up going 1-for-6 on the power play and the team’s penalty kill remained red-hot, going 2-for-2.

Dauphin did a great job defensively as they didn’t allow 10 shots in any single period, and they only gave up four in the third period.

With the win, the Kings are now 10-6-2 and now have 22 points and they’re now five points ahead against Waywayseecappo for second in the West Division. Dauphin will now focus on a home-and-home with Selkirk this weekend, Friday’s game is in Dauphin.
