Kings roll over Titans

Five different players scored, Cole Sheffield was tremendous, and the Dauphin Kings continued to roll on Friday night against a West Division rival.

Sheffield turned away 38 shots as Dauphin won their ninth game of the season and second this season against Neepawa by the final score of 5-1.

It was Neepawa who opened the scoring as Brayden Michalchuk’s power play goal gave the Titans a 1-0 lead early in the first period. That was it; however, for Neepawa as Dauphin scored five straight after that.

Matthew Gough’s seventh and Owen Wareham’s first of the season saw the Kings take a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play. Then Nolan Wickham, Aidan Brook, and Alex Senf scored in the second as Dauphin stormed out to a 5-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Neepawa pushed hard in the third with 20 shots, but Cole Sheffield stood tall and didn’t allow a goal in the final two periods to earn the win. Dauphin has now won five of their last six games.

Next up for the team is the beginning of a home-and-home with Waywayseecappo, starting on Saturday night at Credit Union Place. With their 20 points, Dauphin remains five points behind the OCN Blizzard for first place in the West Division.

Neepawa; meanwhile, remains in last.
