TONIGHT'S MATCH UP
KINGS (21-8-1-0)
A well rested Dauphin Kings team should be ready to go tonight and will be hoping to start a new winning streak after they dropped their final game before the Christmas break to the Norman Blizzard. Dauphin has had success against the Winnipeg Blues this season winning 4-3 in their only meeting, but you cannot take the club lightly and points are so much more important in the second half of the season.
Dauphin's January schedule is a split when it comes to road and home games. They'll play five at Credit Union Place and then five on the road. The Kings finished December with a record of 3-2-0-0. Remember, Dauphin's home game with Swan Valley was postponed in December, so those two teams will make that contest up sometime in the next three months.
The Kings' Special Teams enter the new year in decent shape, but they ended 2024 in a bit of a slump. Dauphin's Power Play sits at 25.78% which is 3rd in the MJHL while their Penalty Kill is 5th overall at 83.05%.
With 23 goals and 14 assists Cayden Glover enters 2025 as the Kings leading scorer with 37 points. Freshly committed Naaman Hofer (4G, 32A) is second with 36.

BLUES (5-21-1-2)
Like the Dauphin Kings this is the return to action for the Winnipeg Blues. Winnipeg will need to be in survival mode right from the first puck drop of 2025 or they will not make it to the post season. Coming into the new year the Blues are 29 points out of a playoff spot and will need to string together some big winning streaks if they have asperations of making it into April.
In January things will not start of east for the Blues. They play their first four games on the road and have just three home games this month.
Special Teams will also need to improve for Winnipeg in 2025 if they want to move up in the standings. Their Power Play is 12th in the league at 10.43% while their Penalty Kill is 75.74% which is 10th.
Forward Adam Matar leads the Blues in scoring coming into 2025. He has 5 goals and 12 assists for 17 points.
