Kings Rebound With Win Over Norman

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings fell behind a couple times but stuck with it and squeezed out a 5-4 victory over the Norman Blizzard on a cold Wednesday night in The Pas.

It was a pretty even start to the game but the Blizzard would take things over midway through when they opened the scoring. After that they continued to control the shot clock. Following a big hit by Dylan Miko the Kings woke up a bit and generated a man advantage but could not score on it. That was followed by a Norman power play which they both gave up a goal and scored one. A big shorthanded marker by Sheldon Shyiak (1) could not give the Kings a boost because the Blizzard came right back after to regain their one goal lead and take a 2-1 advantage to the intermission.

In the second the Kings got the start they needed when Madden Murray (8) scored one of the nicest Dauphin goals this season. After the goal, however, the Blizzard had a power play and they would score to retake the lead right after it expired. Then the Kings picked up two quick ones. First Matthew Thomas (8) on the power play and then Daniel Helary (3) after a friendly bounce off the Norman netminder. The Blizzard would tie it up at four to make it all even going to the third.

After a five goal second period there was just one in the third, and that's all the Kings needed when Madden Murray (9) pounced on a loose puck on the man advantage to give his team a big 5-4 win.

Special Teams were mixed for the Kings. They were 2 for 7 on the Power Play and 4 for 6 on the Penalty Kill.

Cole Sheffield allowed four goals against but it was the ones he didn't give up that were key. As he does he made important saves at important times to help his team to victory. In the Kings out shot Norman 33-29.

Dauphin improves to 21-7-1-0 on the season and sees their lead atop the West Division move to 10 points.

Next up for the Kings is Tractor Lotto & Teddy Bear Toss Night on Sunday. The club will get a few days off between now and then. Game time on Sunday is 4:00pm! Don't miss it!
