Kings Rebound, Beat Pistons 3-2

STEINBACH, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored the first three goals and held on for two points Friday in Steinbach against the Pistons.

Dauphin scored twice in the first period. Austin Lamotte (13) scored on a nice setup by Grady Hobbs on the man advantage. Then Avery Smith (13) would do some great forechecking on the penalty kill and score his team leading fourth shorthanded goal of the season.

The middle frame saw Dauphin continue their strong play and go up 3-0 on Baron Thompson's 24th of the season with Grady Hobbs and Colby Jaquet drawing the assists. Before the end of the period the Pistons would score after their goal was originally waved off by the official on the goal line. After video was posted on the screen in the arena the call was reversed.

Dauphin would take a 3-1 lead to the third period and Steinbach would score late but the Kings held on for the 3-2 decision.

The Kings had just two power plays Friday night. They scored once. Steinbach had four chances on the man advantage and did not score.

Levi Mitchell made his return between the pipes and was excellent, stopping 25 of 27 shots. Dauphin had 23 shots Friday.

The win improves Dauphin's record to 26-22-3-2 on the season. They'll have a quick turnaround tomorrow with a tilt against the Portage Terriers. Game time is 7:30pm!
