DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings were relentless from start to finish in a 7-0 pounding of the Northern Manitoba Blizzard Tuesday night in The Pas.
In the opening 20 minutes the Kings were in control for the most part. After a few big saves from Blizzard goalie Kevin Podgurny the Kings finally got on the board when Ethan Stewart set up Joey Kubas for his second of the campaign. Officially the Kings out shot the Blizzard 18-9 in the first but the Dauphin total was likely closer to 25.
The middle frame saw the Kings pick up where they left off in the first. They controlled things and were eventually rewarded when Ty Pratte (2) scored on the man advantage early in the period. Then Dauphin got goals from Havryil Simchuk (8) & Joey Kubas (3) to extend their lead to 4-0 after 40.
In the third the Kings kept pouring it on. They got goals from Ethan Stewart (4), Gavin Haslam (2) and Madden Murray (5) got one in the final seconds of the affair.
Power Plays saw the Kings go 1 for 7 while their Penalty Kill was excellent, going 6 for 6.
Speaking of excellent, that was Kings goalie Justin Perreault. He stopped all 30 shots he faced for his second shut out of the season. Dauphin had 45 shots officially, but the total was likely closer to 60.
The Kings, now 10-2-1-0, get a couple days off from action before making a trip to the southern part of the province this Saturday and Sunday to play Steinbach and Niverville. They won't be back at Credit Union Place until November 9th when they host the Portage Terriers. Game time Saturday in Steinbach is 7:00pm.
