Kings Protect Two Forwards Ahead Of MJHL Draft

DAUPHIN, MB - With less than a week to go before the MJHL Draft in Winnipeg (April 26th - 9:00am), the Dauphin Kings have named their auto-protected players.

This year the Kings are protecting forwards Kyan Grouette (2005) and Carter Zalischuk (2005) both of the Bantam AAA Parkland Rangers program.

Grouette had a very strong season with the Rangers, tallying 88 points (36G, 52A) and finishing third in league scoring. Grouette is a player that created a lot of open ice for his teammates. The Dauphin product stands 5'9 and 150 lbs.

Zalischuk, another very skilled forward from Dauphin, put up 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points in 35 contests last season. Zalischuk finished third on the Rangers in scoring behind Grouette and Brayden Dube. He stands at 5'8 and 138 pounds.

As mentioned above, this year's MJHL Draft will happen earlier due to COVID-19. It goes down Sunday April 26th at 9:00am. Normally the MJHL Draft takes place in early June.

New to this year’s Draft procedures, teams will have the option to decline an Auto-Protect selection and defer that pick to Round 7 or 8 of the draft.

Fans can follow the Kings for live updates on the team's picks on Twitter with a full recap to be posted after the event!
