Kings Outplay Pistons, Fall 4-3

DAUPHIN, MB - It was another 'edge of your seat' game for the fans at Credit Union Place Friday, but the Kings couldn't skate away with two points in a 4-3 loss to the Steinbach Pistons.

Despite the loss the Kings had long stretches where they played strong, including the third period, where they couldn't quite tie the contest up.

The affair came down to a couple lapses by the Kings defensively. Steinbach scored two goals in the span of two minutes twice on Friday.

First the Pistons scored two goals in less than a minute in the opening period, jumping out to an earl 2-0 advantage. The Kings would respond in the first period when George King (6) snagged one on a power play wrist shot in the mid stages of the frame.

In the second period Dauphin would even things up with Avery Smith scoring (5) on his own wrist shot after speeding down the left wing.

The third period saw the Kings start slow again however, they gave up two goals in just over two minutes to fall back behind by two. George King (7) would tally his second of the night on a great stretch pass from Riley Shamray in the mid stages of the third, getting Dauphin within one on the power play.

The Kings would go on to dominate the rest of the third period, but they couldn't capitalize on their chances, including a late five-on-three man advantage.

Dauphin out shot the Pistons 51 to 34 in the contest. Bryan Landsberger took the loss between the pipes for his club.

The Kings had two goals on the man advantage Friday while the Pistons notched one.

Dauphin slips to 10-9-1 on the season with the loss.

No rest for the Kings, they'll return to action Saturday night when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals. Game time from Tundra Oil & Gas Place is slated for 7:30pm.
