Kings open preseason with win

Jeriah Shantz scored twice in Sunday’s JoFo Cup and he was back at it on Tuesday night as Dauphin opened their preseason on home ice against Swan Valley.

Playing in his first preseason game with the team, he scored the game’s only goal in the first period as the Kings led 1-0 after 20 minutes. Dauphin would go on to win 3-1.

In the second period, Zach Meadows and Mason Lobreau stole the show for Swan Valley. The netminding duo made several fantastic saves to keep the Stampeders in the game, until a late charge from the Kings opened up the contest.

Nolan Wickham scored with 28 seconds left in the second for Dauphin and just nine seconds later, Luke Morris scored as Dauphin went up 3-0 after the second period.

Cash Clarkson, a Parkland Ranger scored with just over a minute left in the third as the Stampeders got on the board to end the game.

Keaton Woolsey was credited with the win in net for Dauphin while Nathan Braun played the second half.

Dauphin will now head to Swan River to play the Stampeders on Thursday.
