Kings Open 2025 With Victory

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings got better as the night went on and picked up their first win of 2025, a 4-1 decision over the visiting Winnipeg Blues Saturday night at Credit Union Place.

In the first period things were a bit sloppy which is to be expected when teams are coming off a long break. Dauphin would eventually capitalize late on a bad Winnipeg change. Cayden Glover notched his 24th of the season on a breakaway to give his team a 1-0 lead but the Blues would score with 1:35 to go to make it 1-1 through 20.

The second period saw the Kings pull away. First Havryil Simchuk gained his 5th of the season and that was followed up by Cayden Glover's (25) second of the night off a great feed from Gavin Nemis. Dauphin would take a 3-1 lead to third period.

In the final frame the Kings added one more, arguably one of the best goals of the season as Havryil Simchuk (6) scored his second of the night off a nice passing play with Ethan Stewart.

The Kings were clearly the better team when it came to Special Teams. They were 1 for 4 on the man advantage and 5 for 5 on the Penalty Kill which included a 5 on 3 chance for the Blues as well.

Cole Sheffield was good in the win, stopping 26 of the 27 shots he faced while his team launched 36 at the Winnipeg net.

The win improves the Kings 22-8-1-0 on the season. They'll be back on home ice tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon when they welcome the Northern Manitoba Blizzard to Dauphin for the first time this season. Game time is 4:00pm!
