Kings move up to first after weekend sweep

The Dauphin Kings now have the most wins in the MGEU West Division.

Wrapping up the weekend against the OCN Blizzard, Cole Sheffield was great in net as Dauphin held on to edge the Blizzard, 2-1.

It was Dauphin’s 24th win of the season and with it, they now join Swan Valley and Waywayseecappo in first as all three teams have 51 points.

It took more than 46 minutes to see the game’s first goal as Blake Boudreau found a puck in the slot and he beat Chase Hamm to give Dauphin a 1-0 lead. Deepkaran Hans would then score into an empty net to give the Kings a 2-0 lead.

Up 2-0 with less than a minute left, Riley Zimmerman scored his 21st of the season to bring the deficit to just a goal with 39 seconds left. OCN pushed the rest of the way; however, they couldn’t find the equalizer.

Since losing to OCN last Tuesday, Dauphin has now won four straight games, all against West Division opponents. Next up for Dauphin is a home game on February 3 as Niverville comes to town.
