Kings Lose In Virden

VIRDEN, MB – A back and forth affair between the Kings and Virden Oil Capitals Saturday night resulted in a 6-4 victory for the home side.

The Kings played well Saturday, but a few defensive zone break downs cost them the victory.

The opening period saw Dauphin take a 1-0 lead on a Grady Hobbs goal.

In the middle frame the Kings built up their lead to 2-0 after Matt Bartel put home a friendly bounce off a Kelby Picard shot. After that Virden notched three straight and didn’t give back the lead.

The other King goals Saturday night came off the sticks of Kelby Picard and Jaymes Knee.

According to the shots on goal in Virden the Oil Capitals out shot the Kings 58-29. Conor Klaers played the whole game between the pipes for Dauphin.

The loss is Dauphin’s third straight of the preseason, moving their exhibition record to 1-3.

The Kings next tilt is Friday at Credit Union Place when they battle the Neepawa Natives.
