Kings Lose First Game At Showcase

WINNIPEG, MB - From the mid stages of the game on the Dauphin Kings were dominant, but couldn't find the back of the net in a 3-0 loss to the Wayway Wolverines Tuesday night.

The Kings came out with a couple good scoring chances in the opening period, but it was the Wolverines who tallied first and then took over for the remainder of the frame.

The score would stay 1-0 until the third period where Wayway would notch a shorthanded marker at the end of a Dauphin power play. The Wolverines would add an empty netter later on to make it 3-0.

From about the 11 minute mark of the second period on the Kings would have most of the pressure and scoring chances, but on this night it was Wayway's goaltender, Isaac Labelle, who made all 35 saves in goal and was easily the reason the club grabbed two points against the Kings.

Bryan Landsberger was good between the pipes for the Kings, he stopped 22 of 24 shots.

Dauphin's power play struggled on Tuesday. It had good puck movement throughout the night, but the team continues to have issues finishing on chances.

The loss drops the Kings' record to 17-13-4 on the year. They'll regroup and look for two points when they meet the top ranked Portage Terriers Wednesday afternoon in Winnipeg for their second Showcase game. After that the club gets a full week off from game action.

Game time Wednesday is once again 4:00pm.
