Kings Lose 8-0 In Virden

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings couldn't get anything going from start to finish and it reflected on the scoreboard in a 8-0 loss to the Virden Oil Capitals Friday at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.

The opening 20 minutes saw both teams get a man advantage in the first half. Dauphin failed to score on theirs but Virden tallied to take a 1-0 lead. Then they were treated to another Power Play moments later and made it a 2-0 game. That was followed by another goal by Virden and just like that the Kings were down 3-0 in just over a minute. The Oil Capitals would score two more times before the period concluded to take a 5-0 lead into the intermission.

In the second Dauphin played decently in the opening minutes but faded. Virden would score two more times to go to the room up 7-0 after 40.

The third period had Virden score one more to ice things at 8-0.

Special Teams were once again disappointing for the Kings. Their Power Play went 0 for 4. Their Penalty Kill was scored on twice in the first period and ended the night 1 for 4.

Bryson Yaschyshyn started in goal for the Kings and had a rough evening. He stopped 19 of 27 shots . Dauphin had 30 shots Friday.

The Kings drop to 26-11-1-0. They remain first in the West Division and have a six point gap over Norman. Now they'll return home for a game with the Northern Manitoba Blizzard on Saturday. It's the first between the two clubs in Dauphin this season and it's sponsored by Dauphin's Countryfest! Puck drop is 7:30pm!
