Kings Lose 5-1 In Portage

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings fell behind 3-0 in the opening 20 minutes and couldn't recover in a 5-1 loss Friday night in Portage.

The first period saw the Kings struggle to get going. After tallying the game's first four shots Dauphin gave up three against. Portage chased starting net-minder Bryson Yaschyshyn after he gave up three goals and Justin Perreault stepped in for the rest of the opening period.

In the second period the Kings bounced back with Nicholas Zaharias scoring his sixth goal of the season on the Power Play. That made the game 3-1. Dauphin had great pressure and controlled most of the period until the late stages when Portage got their fifth man advantage and scored on it to make it 4-1 after 40.

The third period was pretty even with the Terriers scoring the lone goal of the frame to make it a 5-1 final.

Power Plays had Dauphin end the night 1 for 4 while Portage was 2 for 6.

Bryson Yaschyshyn stopped 10 of 13 shots while Justin Perreault turned away 26 of 28. The Kings had 41 shots total as well.

Dauphin adjusts to 10-5-1-0 on the campaign. They'll get tomorrow off before returning to play on Sunday when they host the Terriers at Credit Union Place. Game time is 4:00pm!
