PORTAGE, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored the game's first goal Friday but couldn't muster anything after that in a 5-1 loss to the Portage Terriers.
Jaymes Knee notched Dauphin's lone goal. A shot that found its way to the top right corner 1:12 into the contest, his 8th of the season. Ian Briscoe, who made his regular season debut for the Kings had the only assist on the Knee tally.
After the opening goal the Terriers took over. They scored three in the opening period and then one in both the second and third periods.
Dauphin's Power Play couldn't get going and it may have cost them at least a point. The Kings had five man advantages and couldn't score on any of them. The Terriers had four chances and also couldn't score.
Brennan Kitchen suffered the loss between the pipes. He stopped 33 of 38 shots while his team had 12 on the Portage goal.
No rest for Dauphin as they will be back on the ice Saturday evening to face off with the Flyers in Winkler. The Kings' record slips to 10-30-2 on the season after this evening's results.
