Kings Lose 3-0 To Selkirk

DAUPHIN, MB – The Dauphin Kings were unable to get anything going Sunday in a 3-0 loss to the Selkirk Steelers at Credit Union Place.

After allowing the game’s first goal 19 seconds into the affair the Kings were excellent in the opening period.

With the score 1-0 after the first the Steelers added to their lead, taking a 3-0 advantage into the final period and that’s where things would end up.

The Kings had some opportunities throughout the night, but couldn’t put the puck to the back of the net. It was the opposite for the Steelers, who finished on some high quality scoring chances.

Special Teams saw the Kings finish the night 0 for 5 on the Power Play and 3 for 4 on the Penalty Kill.

Duncan McGovern played well in the loss for Dauphin, stopping 31 of the 34 shots he faced while his team put 22 on the Selkirk net.

With a Swan Valley Loss and a Neepawa victory Sunday night the Standings have got a little bit tighter. The Kings remain four back of the Stampeders for the league’s final playoff spot, but now the Neepawa Natives are two back of Dauphin and six behind Swan.

The Kings have two huge games coming up this week. On Tuesday they’ll welcome the Waywayseecappo Wolverines to Credit Union Place with Assiniboine Community College as the game sponsor! Then on Wednesday Dauphin visits the Neepawa Natives. Puck drop both nights is 7:30pm!
