Kings look to rebound

There was no real surprise heading into the first round of the playoffs for the Dauphin Kings.

They have to be excellent offensively to beat Kobe Grant. The MJHL Goaltender of the Year was excellent on Friday as he gave up just one goal in a 2-1 win against Dauphin.

Now the two teams will meet again on Saturday evening at Credit Union Place and the game could be a must-win for Dauphin. As the series will alternate each game leading to game seven in Swan River, Dauphin can’t afford to go down two games after two.

Dauphin played quite well on Friday and likely deserved more; however, they have to ramp things up on Saturday as the Stampeders look to take a 2-0 series lead.

If Dauphin wants to have success, they will have to stop the Stampeders first line as they combined for four points on Friday night (they had 195 points combined in the first round).

Six of the seven meetings between the two teams this year have now been one-goal games and have come down to the wire.

You can watch Saturday’s game on HockeyTV and you can also hear it on 730CKDM with Darnell Duff.
