Kings look strong, down Wolverines

The Dauphin Kings put together another solid effort on Saturday as they completed a massive weekend sweep against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Dauphin opened up a 2-0 lead and that was all they needed in the game in a 3-1 victory at the Arena Complex. Dauphin outscored the Wolverines this weekend, 8-2, and they never trailed.

Deepkaran Hans scored on the power play to open up the scoring in the first as Dauphin held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes and then Logan Walker let go of a beautiful shot from the high slot as he beat Marek Andres as Dauphin went up 2-0.

The Wolverines would bounce back with a goal in the second period from Cody Blight; however, that was as close as Waywayseecappo would get. Myles Yearwood would score his seventh goal of the season in the third as Dauphin secured a two-goal victory and it was their 22nd win of the season.

The team is now in second place in the MGEU West Division and they are just two points back of OCN for first and Dauphin has one game in hand on OCN. While Dauphin struggled on the man advantage on Saturday, going 1-for-8, the team was perfect on the penalty kill as they went 4-for-4.

In two games in Waywayseecappo this year, Dauphin is 2-0 and they outscored the Wolverines, 8-1, after a 5-0 win at the Arena Complex earlier this season.

Dauphin will host their Skills Competition on Monday afternoon at Credit Union Place from 1:30 to 3, admission is free for everyone.
