TONIGHT'S MATCH UP
KINGS (17-6-1-0)
Dauphin improved to 3-0 against the Oil Capitals on Friday with their 6-3 win. This will be the fourth of six meetings between the two clubs this season. They won't see each other again until Ukrainian Night on January 25th.
Meanwhile, after tonight's game the Kings will gear up for a stretch that will see them play the Norman Blizzard every week until the Christmas break starting on Tuesday.
Special Teams on Friday saw the Kings go 2 for 5 on the Power Play and 5 for 7 on the Penalty Kill. On the man advantage Dauphin is ranked 2nd in the league at 26.1% while their PK is now at 85.1% and still 2nd as well. The Kings' road penalty kill has been excellent this season, it sits 1st in the league at 87.5%.
Cayden Glover (21G, 10A) had two goals Friday night and leads the Kings in points with 31. That total has him tied for 2nd in the MJHL, three points behind Portage's Cameron Bullinger.
OIL CAPITALS (11-13-0-0)
Friday's loss for the Virden Oil Capitals snapped a four game winning streak for the club. They are five points ahead of Waywayseecappo for the West Division's final playoff spot.
Virden has played a league high 16 home games already this season. With tonight's being their 17th the club will look towards a very road heavy schedule in the new year, something that will make things quite difficult when it comes to getting to the post season.
If the Oil Capitals are to make the playoffs they will need to see their Special Teams improve. Coming into this evening Virden's Power Play is 10th in the MJHL at 16.7% and their Penalty Kill is 11th at 72.6%.
Noel Englot (9G, 12A) is first on the Oil Capitals in points with 21.
