Kings Keep Rolling, Beat OCN 6-3

DAUPHIN, MB - Another solid effort by the Dauphin Kings and the club is now above .500 for the first time this season following a 6-3 win over the OCN Blizzard Saturday night at Credit Union Place.

The Kings controlled most of the opening period, but they found themselves behind just over four minutes in when the Blizzard drew first blood. The Kings would respond though, Grady Hobbs would notch his sixth of the campaign on a great setup play by Vincent Nardone.

With the two teams tied at one in the second period Dauphin would break the deadlock and not look back. Charles Massey (5) would make it 2-1 Kings after a great pass from Nardone.

The final frame saw the Kings pull away. First Massey would tally his sixth of the year, then Austin Lamotte mixed in his fourth to make it 4-2 Dauphin. The Blizzard would make it close after being awarded a lengthy 5-on-3 but the Kings would bend and not break. Then Parker Malchuk (1) would pull his team away for good, making it 5-3. Kaden Bryant (1) treated himself to an empty netter to make it a 6-3 final.

Matthias Smith picked up his third win of the season in net. He stopped 26 of the 29 shots he faced while his team launched 50 on the OCN goal.

Dauphin's power play went 1 for 5 on Saturday while their penalty kill finished 5 for 7.

The win puts the Kings at 3-2-0-0 on the season. They'll see their next game on Friday when they hope to visit the Blizzard in OCN. Game time is slated for 7:00pm in The Pas or OCN.
