MORDEN, MB - The Dauphin Kings played one of their best road games of the season, beating the Winkler Flyers 6-2 Friday night in Morden.
The first period may have been Dauphin's least effective Friday, but they were able to get out of it tied at ones. Grady Hobbs (4) scored his first of two of the night on a breakaway early in the frame before the Flyers tied it later on.
The second period the Kings began to take over. The line of Leeam Tivers, Sammy Mouland and Avery Smith had four points Friday. Tivers (2) got the Kings up 2-1 in the second period and then later in the frame Bryon Fobair (6) would snag his sixth of the campaign.
Dauphin would take the 3-1 advantage they had into the final period where they controlled everything. The Kings got goals from Hobbs (5), Tivers (3) and Heeney (1) before the night was done.
Brennan Kitchen quietly went about his work on Friday, he stopped 34 of 36 shots while the Kings launched 34 on the Winkler net. Kitchen was key in the opening period, making a few big saves to keep the affair at 1-1.
The Kings' Special Teams were excellent Friday as well. They went 1 for 4 on the man advantage and 4 for 4 on the penalty kill.
No rest for both clubs, they'll meet again Saturday at 2:30pm in Morden. The win improves Dauphin's record to 12-10-1 on the season, they've won two straight.
