TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

KINGS (27-21-2-0) - 2nd in West

As mentioned the Dauphin Kings can clinch a playoff spot tonight and there are a couple of ways it can be done. Firstly, a victory over the Virden Oil Capitals at Credit Union Place tonight. Secondly, a regulation loss by the Swan Valley Stampeders this evening. The Stampeders are home to Steinbach.

It's the final game of a busy stretch for the Kings. After tonight Dauphin will have almost a full week off to regroup. They won't see their next action until Friday when they take on the Titans in Neepawa. Then the Kings will play four of their final six games on the road to conclude the regular season.

Special Teams were very good in Dauphin's 7-2 win over Swan Valley on Wednesday. Coming into this evening they're now up to 6th in the MJHL at 23.4% on the Power Play. On the Penalty Kill they've bumped up to 78.8% which is 8th.

Nicholas Zaharias (14G, 28A) and Matthew O'Sullivan (22G, 20A) are tied for the Kings lead in points with 42.

OIL CAPITALS (31-11-3-0) - 1st in West

The Virden Oil Capitals continue to have a significant amount of games in hand on the MJHL's West Division. They have five games in hand on the Kings and have not played this week. They were scheduled to face the Winnipeg Blues on Wednesday but the game did not happen and needs to be rescheduled. All this means the club's schedule will get pretty intense over the next few weeks.

Virden has 13 games to go. They'll play five contests in the next eight nights starting this evening when they play the Kings. All those tilts except one are on the road. Then the Oil Capitals play five of their final seven on home ice, not including their game with the Blues that needs to be rescheduled

Virden's Special Teams will try to keep rolling tonight. Their Power Play is rated 4th in the MJHL at 24.5% while their Penalty Kill is now 6th at 80.7%.

Bryce Bryant (26G, 41A) leads Virden in scoring with 67 points.
