TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

KINGS (1-0-0-0)

A lot went the Kings way on Friday night in Virden and the club will need to be on their toes as the Oil Capitals look to avoid going down 0-2 on opening weekend.

This is the final game of the week for the Kings, they won't see anymore action until next Friday when they go south again, but to visit the Neepawa Titans. After a home-and-home set with Neepawa the schedule picks up for Dauphin.

Friday saw a solid night for the Kings on the Special Teams side of things. They went 1 for 3 on the Power Play and 3 for 3 on the Penalty Kill.

After his two assist night in Virden Gabriel Bugeaud leads the Kings in points on the young season. He has two points. While Ashton Paul, Ty Pratte, Jack Bechard and Aiden Murray all have one point.

OIL CAPITALS (0-1-0-0)

It's the only road contest in the first seven games for the Virden Oil Capitals tonight when they visit the Kings. Virden's early season schedule will see them return home after tonight for a five game home stand.

Virden's Special Teams didn't come through in their opening game against the Kings. Their Power Play wen 0 for 3 while their Penalty Kill was 2 for 3.

The bright spot of the night for Virden was goaltender Nik Trakakis. He stood tall and gave his team a chance to win on Friday stopping 32 of the 34 shots he faced.
