TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

KINGS (20-12-1-0)

The Kings play their final game of the week tonight when they take on Steinbach. They started things off with a win over Waywayseecappo on Tuesday before falling to the Terriers in Portage on Wednesday. So this is Dauphin's third game in four night's ahead of the Trade Deadline which passes tomorrow (Jan. 10).

Coming into tonight Dauphin ranks first in the MJHL's West Division, but they're now only 3 points ahead of the Virden Oil Capitals who lost in OT to Waywayseecappo last night. Virden has three games in hand on the Kings. Neepawa is four points back but they are even in games with Dauphin.

Special Teams were good on Wednesday in Portage for the Kings. They're now at 22.3% on the Power Play which is 7th in the MJHL. On the Penalty Kill they're up to 78.9% and that's good enough for 7th as well.

Nicholas Zaharias (9G, 24A) continues to lead the Kings in scoring with 33 points.

PISTONS (26-7-1-0)

Like the Kings the Steinbach Pistons have already played three games since the Christmas break. They've won two of the three outings and currently find themselves second in the MJHL's East Division, eight points behind the top ranked Niverville Nighthawks.

This is also Steinbach's only game this weekend as the Pistons get set for a stretch that will see them play four of their next five on home ice following tonight's game. The beginning of that swing sees the Kings in town next Friday. This is a home-and-home between the Kings and Pistons for Steinbach, but Dauphin will play Virden on Tuesday before heading to Steinbach late next week.

Special Teams remain strong for the Pistons with both inside the top five in the MJHL. Their Penalty Kill is first overall at 88.2% while their Power Play is fifth, a solid 24%.

Jack Greenwell (24G, 12A) leads the Pistons in scoring with 36 points. His 24 goals are second overall in the MJHL.
