TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
KINGS (25-20-1-0) - 2nd in West
Tonight marks the start of a very busy stretch for the Kings. They'll play in Dauphin this evening and then go to Winnipeg tomorrow to battle the Blues. That's followed by an afternoon affair against Waywayseecappo on Louis Riel Day Monday. Then the Kings conclude with four game in six night swing when they host Swan Valley on Wednesday.
The Kings enter the game this evening in second place in the West Division but all points matter at this part of the season. After tonight Dauphin has just four games left at Credit Union Place. Their road heavy conclusion to the season will see them play seven of their last 11 games away from home.
Special Teams did not change much in Tuesday's 6-1 win over Northern Manitoba. Dauphin is now 8th in the MJHL on the Power Play at 21.9%. On the Penalty Kill they sit 9th at 77.3%.
After a couple goals on Tuesday Nicholas Zaharias leads the Kings in points with 39. He has 13 goals and 26 assists.
MONARCHS (8-36-2-0) - 7th in East
The beat goes on for the Winnipeg Monarchs who wont make the MJHL Playoffs this season and at this point are just playing out their schedule and trying to be the spoiler. The Monarchs will have multiple opportunities to do that over the rest of February. They have games against Dauphin, Swan Valley, Winkler and Portage. All teams battling to make and position themselves in the MJHL Playoffs.
The Monarchs are like the Kings in where they will spend most of the final stretch of their season on the road. Seven of their final 12 contests are away.
Special Teams have not changed much from last week when the Monarchs played the Kings. Right now Winnipeg has the worst Power Play in the MJHL at 12.6% while their Penalty Kill is last as well at 66.5%.
Cam Alt leads Winnipeg in points with eight goals and 15 assists.
