TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
KINGS (21-17-1-0) - 3rd in West
Despite recent struggles the Dauphin Kings remain firmly inside the West Division's Playoff Picture. Dauphin is 3rd in the West, two points behind Neepawa and four up on Waywayseecappo. The Kings are 17 points up on Swan Valley who are on the outside looking in at this time.
This is the only road game of the week for the Kings. They'll be back at Credit Union Place on Saturday to play Neepawa and then Sunday they'll battle Niverville. Dauphin will close out a brief three game home stand next Tuesday against Swan Valley before heading out for a weekend road swing late next week.
Special Teams were much better in Dauphin's 4-2 loss to Niverville on Saturday. They were 1 for 4 on the Power Play and 2 for 2 on the Penalty Kill. Coming into tonight the Kings are 8th in the MJHL on the PP (22.5%) and 8th on the PK (78.2%) as well.
Matthew O'Sullivan and Nicholas Zaharias (10G, 25A) continue to lead Dauphin in scoring with 35 points.
BLIZZARD (6-26-2-2) - 6th in West
After winning the Manitoba Junior Hockey League title less than 12 months ago the Northern Manitoba Blizzard are about two or three weeks away from being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
NorMan is at the bottom of the MJHL, tied with the Winnipeg Monarchs with 16 points. Their last win came on January 16th when they beat the Neepawa Titans on home ice 6-5. All of the Blizzard's six wins this season have come on home ice (6-13-1-2). The team continues to look for their first road win, sitting with a record of 0-13-1-0 as the away team.
Special Teams are mixed for the Blizzard. Their Penalty Kill is very solid at 80.2% which is 4th in the MJHL. Their Power Play, however, is 11th at 14.7%.
Isaac Tomchak (10G, 17A) is atop the Blizzard in points with 27.
