Kings Hammer Stampeders In Home Opener

DAUPHIN, MB - There was no fooling around by the Dauphin Kings in their home opener as they put up seven goals in a 7-0 victory over the Swan Valley Stampeders Saturday night.

The opening 20 minutes Joey Kubas, Cam Jansa and Nicolas Zaharias scored just over 1:30 apart to give Dauphin a 3-0 advantage. It was their first goals of the season and came in the final five minutes of the frame.

In the second Dauphin continued their solid play and Ethan Stewart gave his team a 4-0 lead heading to the final 20 minutes.

Unlike Friday's Third period Saturday's was a different story. This time the Kings scored three times and put the Stampeders away. Dauphin got goals from Stewart again, Rylan Gage and Kale Pratte scored in his first MJHL outing.

Bryson Yaschyshyn was very good between the pipes and earned the shut out for the Kings. He stopped all 33 shots he faced while his team had 43 on the Swan Valley net.

Power Plays had both teams going 0 for 4.

Dauphin improves to 1-1-0-0 on the young season.

The Kings now get five days off before their next action. That's when they visit the Neepawa Titans Friday. It's the start of another home-and-home set for the Kings. They'll entertain the Titans on Saturday at Credit Union Place (7:00pm) and the game is sponsored by the Dauphin Fire Department!
