Kings Hammer Neepawa, Clinch Playoff Spot

DAUPHIN, MB - After giving up the game's first goal the Dauphin Kings scored seven straight en route to a 7-1 victory over the Neepawa Titans Friday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin struggled out of the gate Friday and didn't generate much when it came to high danger scoring chances in the first 20 minutes.

In the second period Neepawa opened the scoring 12:14 into the second period. After that the Kings scored three times in 27 seconds to go ahead 3-1. Dauphin would get two more before the period was out. Brett Magarrell (1) scored his first as a Dauphin King to open the scoring. Following up were Declan Hoad (6), Naaman Hofer (6), Gabriel Bugeaud (13) & Havryil Simchuk (9). Kings D-man Dylan Miko also picked up his first MJHL point. Notching an assist on Hoad's goal.

In the third period the Kings would add two more. First Matthew Thomas (12) and Ty Pratte (5) would close it out.

Cole Sheffield was excellent in the game and very important early in the contest when the Kings were finding their legs. He stopped 25 of 26 shots, his team had 37.

Dauphin's Special Teams continue to be on a roll. Their Power Play went 1 for 3 on Friday while their Penalty Kill finished 2 for 2.

The win clinches a playoff spot for the Kings. They move to 30-13-1-1 on the season and are the first team in the MJHL to book their spot to the post season.  They remain seven points up on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard for top spot in the West Division.

The Kings get another day off before their next action Sunday. The home stand continues with a visit from the Niverville Nighthawks. Game time on Sunday is 4:00pm and don't forget it's our Family Game sponsored by the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy. The Kings will be signing their hockey cards after the game, there's a draw for a family pack of Jets tickets (Section 118 / Row 5) and it's an early puck drop!

Game time Sunday is 4:00pm!
