Kings Hammer Blues, Win Third Straight

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings dominated the Blues for almost the entire night in a 7-1 victory in Winnipeg.

The first 20 minutes saw the Kings struggle a little out of the gate. For about the first two minutes of the contest the Blues would get a couple chances while the Dauphin looked to wake up after the long bus ride into Winnipeg. After finding their footing they took control of the game. Madden Murray (12) would open the scoring just under five minutes into the game. After scoring the Kings continued to dominate and after a quick two and out man advantage for the Blues the Kings would go up the ice and Cayden Glover would notch his 29th of the season with less than seven minutes to go in the period. That's how things would end, with the Kings up 2-0 after 20.

In the second the Kings picked up where they left off scoring two immediate goals to kick off the period. First Cayden Glover (30) and that was followed up by Josh Schmidt (5) just over a minute after. Dauphin then got their first man advantage of the night which Gabriel Bugeaud (9) would score on. Cole Sheffield would draw the lone assist on the tally, his second of the year. That would make it 5-0 after 40.

Just 13 seconds into the third period Ty Pratte (3) would score for the Kings and that was followed by Matthew Haun picking up his third of the season as well to make it 7-0. The Blues were treated to a couple man advantages in the third period and would score to make it a 7-1 final.

Power Plays saw the Kings finish 1 for 2 while their Penalty Kill was 4 for 5.

Cole Sheffield wasn't busy but was good when he needed to be. He stopped 25 of 26 shots while the Kings had 47 on the Winnipeg net.

The win moves the Kings to 25-9-1-0 on the campaign. Next up is a trip to Swan River on Tuesday to play the Stampeders. Then Dauphin returns to Credit Union Place on Saturday for Ukrainian Night presented by Canada's National Ukrainian Festival. Check our social media this week for ticket sale updates!
