Kings Hammer Blizzard 6-1

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored two goals in each period en route to a 6-1 victory over the Northern Manitoba Blizzard Tuesday night at Credit Union Place.

The first 20 minutes saw goals local product Sam Swanton (2) and Brandon's Ethan Stewart (13). The Kings carried the play for the most part in all three periods. In the first they out shot the Blizzard 20-11.

In the second Dauphin out shot the Blizzard 21-14 and got goals from Nicholas Zaharias (12) and another Dauphin product, Quinten Fisk (5).

The third had Zaharias scoring again, notching his 13th of the campaign. Then to close it out Joey Kubas (15) finished a nice play to make it a 6-1 final.

Special Teams were quiet. Dauphin did not have a Power Play Tuesday and they went 1 for 1 on the Penalty Kill.

Shots were heavily in favour of the Kings. They out shot the Blizzard 67-35 with Bryson Yaschyshyn stopping 34 of those 35 shots he faced.

Next up for the Kings is a Winnipeg weekend. First they'll host the Winnipeg Monarchs on Friday before taking on the Blues in Winnipeg on Saturday. The long weekend will be a busy one for Dauphin as they'll visit the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on the Monday holiday as well (4:00pm).

The Kings are now 25-20-1-0 and hold second place in the West Division, four points ahead of Neepawa. The Titans have three games in hand. Neepawa was passed by Waywayseecappo for third place Tuesday. The Wolverines are three back of Dauphin and even in games with the Kings.
