WINKLER, MB - The Dauphin Kings salvaged their season high six game road swing Sunday night in Winkler with an exciting 6-5 overtime win over the Flyers.
The Kings started the game very well, scoring the affair's first three goals. Nakodan Greyeyes (12 & 13) had two of them while Cole DeKoninck (10) mixed in the other.
Winkler would make it 3-1 in the middle frame before a wild third period saw the teams go back and forth. Eventually the game went to overtime where Austin Lamotte (4) used his hero card for the winner. Kings goals in the third came from Greyeyes (14) and DeKoninck (11).
The tilt also featured a line brawl which saw Avery Smith get jumped by Winkler goaltender Dorrin Luding midway through the second period. Both received fighting majors.
Underneath all those story lines Dauphin's Zach Grouette earned his first MJHL win between the pipes. He stopped 25 of 30 shots while his team had 37 on the Winkler goal.
Dauphin had four goals on the man advantage Sunday while Winkler tallied three times.
It was another big night for Grady Hobbs and Nakodan Greyeyes. Greyeyes had three goals and two assists while Hobbs had three assists.
The win improves the Kings to 11-10-3-2 and is their third straight. They'll return to Credit Union Place on TV Tuesday when they welcome the OCN Blizzard to town, it's the start of a six game home stand for Dauphin. Game time is 7:30pm!
