Kings Get Back In The Win Column

WINNIPEG, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored twice on the power play to snap their losing skid with a 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Blues Sunday afternoon.

The Kings got the start they were looking for, scoring just over seven minutes into the affair. Grady Hobbs (2) notched the goal, scoring on Dauphin's first man advantage of the afternoon.

The second period the Kings continued their solid play and Nakodan Greyeyes (5) was rewarded on another Dauphin power play, banging home a rebound in front of the Winnipeg net. The Kings would take a 2-0 lead into the final frame.

The third had Dauphin on their heals a little bit and Winnipeg was able to tally on the power play. The Kings would respond quickly though when Carter Sawchuk (2) scored on a 2-on-1 with Austin Lamotte. Dauphin's Avery Smith (3) would add an empty netter to cap things off.

Duncan McGovern was solid between the pipes, picking up his first win with the Kings this season. He turned away 19 of 20 shots while the group in front of him fired 32 on the Winnipeg goal.

The Kings were 2 for 5 on the power play while the Blues finished 1 for 6.

The victory improves Dauphin's record to 2-5-0-1 on the year, they'll return to action on Wednesday when they visit the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. The Kings are back on home ice Saturday when they entertain Neepawa at Credit Union Place, both games are 7:30pm starts.
