Kings Flat In Home Opener Loss

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings couldn't find much chemistry in their first game of the season and cost them in a 7-3 loss to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Friday night.

The Kings didn't play well for almost the entire affair. They did have chances throughout the game but missed on some key opportunities. The club seemed flat and it showed in the first two periods where they gave up six goals against.

Dauphin didn't hit the score sheet until the third period when Braeden Young made it a 6-1 affair. Wayway would quickly respond to make it 7-1. The Kings would tally twice very late in the third period, Grady Hobbs and Koby Morrisseau both got their firsts of the year out of the way.

Matthias Smith lasted two periods Friday. He turned away 20 of the 26 shots he faced. Mathias Savoie stepped in for the third period and stopped nine of the 10 he faced.

Power Plays saw Wayway ending the night 2 for 4 while the Kings had just two chances and failed to score on both.

Dauphin will look to regroup quickly as they'll meet Wayway again Saturday night. It's the second contest in four straight between the two clubs. The mini series will continue next weekend with the Kings' home game coming on Saturday.
