Kings Fall Short To Yorkton

DAUPHIN, MB - A youthful lineup put on a good show but couldn't squeeze out a win at Credit Union Place in a 3-2 loss to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Yorkton Terriers Friday.

The Kings came out a little flat in the opening 20 minutes, where they were out shot 15-6 and out scored 2-0.

In the second period Dauphin bounced back a little, getting a goal from Tristan Slot to cut the Terriers lead in half. However Yorkton would respond later in the frame as they regained their two goal advantage, making it 3-1 heading into the final period.

The third saw the Kings play excellent, out shooting Yorkton 15-7. They were eventually rewarded when Jake Evans potted a chance in front on his backhand. The Kings continued their strong effort into the late stages of the tilt, but they couldn't capitalize on their chances. Regardless, the game was entertaining for the fans on a warm Friday evening in Dauphin.

Albert Adamsen started between the pipes for the Kings and finished with 21 saves on 23 shots. Bob Parenteau took over in the second period and stopped eight of the nine shots he faced.

The loss moves the Kings pre season record to 2-1-0. They'll get another shot at the Terriers Saturday evening when they head west to Yorkton. Check back here tomorrow for a report!
