Kings Fall Short In Winkler

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings had chances but struggled to finish in a 5-1 loss to the Winkler Flyers Sunday night.

The opening 20 minutes saw the Kings have a tough time getting anything going when it came to goals. Not surprising considering the team had played the night before and then got on the bus for a long trip south. Winkler would gain a Power Play in the second half of the frame and pick up a 1-0 lead. Both teams had 10 shots in the first.

In the second Madden Murray would miss on an early breakaway chance but he'd make up for it a few minutes later to tie it up at one. The tie was short lived however as the Flyers would score two quick ones to make it 3-1. Winkler would get another man advantage and in the final minute of the frame they'd score to make it 4-1. Madden Murray had another breakaway later in the period but was stopped on that as well.

The final period saw the Kings unable to generate anything when it came to a comeback. They had some chances, but again, could not finish. Winkler would score once more to make it a 5-1 final.

Bryson Yaschyshyn took the loss between the pipes for the Kings. He stopped 29 of 34 shots, Dauphin had 25.

Special Teams were in favour of Winkler. Dauphin ended the night 0 for 3 on the Power Play while the Flyers were 1 for 5.

Dauphin is now 7-2-0-0 on the year. They'll now get a quick day off before returning to action on Tuesday when they're back at Credit Union Place to play the Northern Manitoba Blizzard. Game time is 7:00pm!
