DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings showed signs of rust in a 4-1 loss to the Selkirk Steelers Thursday night at Credit Union Place.
It was a game that saw Dauphin get better as the night went as they played their first game back from the Christmas break.

In the second Selkirk continued to play well and went ahead 3-1 on the Kings. Mason Fischer had Dauphin's lone goal on the night. It came on the man advantage early in the period with the assists going to Riley Shamray and starting goalie Justin Anderson. Shots in the middle frame were 19-10 Steelers.
The third had Selkirk scoring the only goal, but it was the Kings who controlled most of the period. Dauphin out shot the Steelers 14-4 in the final 20 minutes but the Kings could not beat goalie Zach Bennett who made 39 saves on 40 shots. On the other side of the ice Justin Anderson played well and turned aside 35 of 39 shots.
Power Plays were key Thursday. Selkirk finished 3 for 5 while Dauphin went 1 for 8. The Kings will get one day off before returning to action on Saturday when they entertain the Winkler Flyers at Credit Union Place. Game time Saturday is 7:30pm and the contest is sponsored by KAL TIRE!
