Kings Fall In Swan River

SWAN RIVER, MB – The Dauphin Kings suffered their first lost of their Manitoba Junior Hockey League pre season schedule Tuesday, dropping a 5-3 decision to the Swan Valley Stampeders.

Dauphin iced a youthful line up but with more veterans than Monday night, while Swan Valley’s team Tuesday night included nine 20 year olds.

It was a bit of a back and fourth contest between the two clubs. The Kings never held the lead during the night.

The Kirklan Lycar picked up two goals in the losing effort for the Kings while Codey Beaulieu got the other. Lycar (2G, 0A), Beaulieu (1G, 1A) and Logan Nelson (0G, 2A), all had two points in the contest.

Brandon Holtby started the affair and gave up two goals on 15 shots. He was replaced by Conor Klaers who allowed two goals as well, but on 14 shots. The Kings out shot Swan Valley 32-30 Tuesday.

The loss slips Dauphin to 1-1 in the pre season and now the team will get some much needed rest following non stop hockey action from basically Thursday evening until Tuesday night. For some players they played even more than that and travelled across western Canada.

Next up for the Kings is a tilt with the Virden Oil Capitals at Credit Union Place on Friday. Game time is 7:30pm!
