Kings Erase Third Period Deficit, Win In OT

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings played one of their best third periods this season, coming back from a 3-1 deficit and picking up a 4-3 OT win over Waywayseecappo Friday night.

The first period saw the Kings scored on in the first five minutes of a period once again. Just 4:39 in the Wolverines grabbed the lead. The two teams traded chances as the period went on. Wayway would out shoot the Kings 12-6 and fail to score on two Power Plays.

In the second period the Kings would turn the tide. Rylan Gage (13) would tally for his team to make it 1-1. The momentum was short lived, however, as the Wolverines would regain their lead one minute later. Then Waywayseecappo would score again late to give themselves a 3-1 advantage after 40 minutes.

The third period saw the Kings come out hard and play one of their best periods of the season. Josh Schmidt (7) got Dauphin within a goal just 16 seconds in off a nice set up from Ash Mitchelmore. Then Mitchelmore (10) would score his own goal just past the midway point of the frame to make it all square at three. The game would then head to overtime.

In the extra frame the Kings continued to play well and were rewarded with a Power Play thanks to hard work by Madden Murray. Ethan Stewart (19) continued his torrid pace as of late and scored the winner for Dauphin. The Kings out shot Wayway 4-0 in OT.

Shots finished 39-24 in favour of the Kings. Hunter Bauer grabbed the win net for Dauphin.

Special Teams finished with the Kings going 1 for 3 on the Power Play and 3 for 3 on the Penalty Kill.

The Kings are now 30-23-2-0 on the season and move three points up on Waywayseecappo for second in the West Division. Dauphin will be back at it in 24 hours when they visit the Oil Capitals in Virden for the final time this season. Game time Saturday is 7:30pm.

DON'T FORGET: The Kings final regular season home game is Saturday March 14th. It's Awards and Rain Check Night. That means any unused season tickets and flex tickets can be used to get into the game!
