Kings End Weekend With Loss In Winkler
DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings closed out their southern weekend road swing with a 5-2 loss to the Flyers in Winkler Saturday night.
In the opening period the two teams went through a bit of a feeling out process. There was no scoring in the first half but late in the period the momentum would shift for the Flyers and they'd grab a 1-0 advantage with just over five minutes to go. Wyatt Dyck (8) would even things up but the momentum was short lived with the Flyers taking a 2-1 lead just outside the final minute of the frame.
The second saw the Flyers add two more goals and pull away. They got one on the man advantage and one even strength in the first half of the period.
In the third the Kings came out flat and were scored on less than two minutes into the period. Dauphin would get one goal before the game concluded. Ethan Stewart (11) would notch his third of the weekend to make it 5-2. A bright spot from the weekend was the line of Stewart, Kinoshita and O'Sullivan. The trio combined for 10 points in two contests.
Shots finished 28-26 for the Flyers with Bryson Yaschyshyn suffering the loss in goal.
Special Teams had the Kings struggle on the Penalty Kill once again. They were 3 for 5 on the PK and 0 for 3 on the Power Play.
Dauphin is now 21-15-1-0 on the season. They're back in a tie for second place in the West Division with the Neepawa Titans and one point back of Virden for top spot.
The Kings wrap up their current four game road swing on Tuesday when they visit the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. Game time is 7:30pm. The next Kings home game is Saturday for UKRAINIAN NIGHT at Credit Union Place. Tickets are just $5.00 and available this week at the CNUF Office in the Dauphin Market Place Mall!
