Kings End Pre Season With Shootout Loss

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are officially through the pre season following a 7-6 shootout loss to Neepawa Friday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin finished with a 1-2-0-1 record in exhibition.

In the first period Friday the Kings started strong when Kingston Gunn scored his first of the exhibition season. Neepawa would tally to make it a 1-1 contest after 20.

The second saw the two teams trade three goals each. The Kings got markers from Cam Jansa and Nicolas Zaharias (1 & 2).

The final frame had the Kings come back after falling behind. Both Ash Mitchelmore (1) and Nicholas Zaharias (3) scored to send the game to overtime.

Zaharias finished with four points (3G, 1A) while Ethan Stewart (3A) and Ash Mitchelmore (1G, 2A) had three points.

The contest eventually went to a shootout where the Titans prevailed, winning 7-6.

Power plays saw the Kings go 0 for 2 while Neepawa was 3 for 4.

Shots were 54-30 in favour of the Kings. Bryson Yaschyshyn played the first two periods while Tate Barnaby was between the pipes in the third.

The Kings now look forward to the start of their regular season. It begins on Friday when they visit the Swan Valley Stampeders. Then on Saturday the Kings return to Credit Union Place for the Assiniboine College Home Opener! Friday's affair in Swan River is a 7:00pm puck drop while Saturday in Dauphin see things begin at 7:00pm!
