DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings put forth their best pre season effort so far in a 4-2 win over the Neepawa Titans Friday night at Credit Union Place.
The opening 20 minutes saw the Kings control things, outshooting Neepawa 16-5, but things ended at 1-1. Collin Friedrich continued his solid pre season, notching his fourth which was Dauphin's lone goal in the frame.
In the second the Kings continued their strong play, outshooting the Titans once again, this time 10-4. Landyn Garton picked up his first of the pre season to give Dauphin a 2-1 advantage after 40.
Despite giving up the tying goal with just over five minutes to play in the third Dauphin would push back and Maddox Clark (1) would give his team the lead. The forward would then ice it for his team with an empty netter in the dying seconds.
In the end the Kings out shot Neepawa 39-21. Bryson Yaschyshyn secured the win in goal for Dauphin, playing all 60 minutes of the contest.
The Kings finished 0 for 5 on the man advantage and 3 for 3 on the penalty kill.
Now the Kings get a week off before the start of the MJHL Regular Season. Dauphin will see their first game on Friday when they go south to take on the Steelers in Selkirk. The Assiniboine College Kings Home Opener happens on Saturday September 19th at Credit Union Place. Game time Friday at 7:30pm while Saturday is 7:00pm!
