DAUPHIN, MB - A young Dauphin Kings team couldn't keep up with an older Portage Terriers group in a 6-3 loss Wednesday night.

Dauphin did get out to a strong start when Noah Wagner went coast-to-coast and scored on the Portage net just over four minutes in, but the Terriers would respond with two quick goals before the opening period concluded.

In the second period the Terriers made it a 3-1 game before Jayden Jubenvill tallied off a chance in the slot midway through the frame, but the one goal deficit was short lived as Portage took a 4-2 lead late in the period.

For the final period the teams continued their trend from the first two with Dauphin scoring once and Portage scoring twice to end the game at 6-3 for the Terriers. The Kings' lone goal in the third came off the stick of Brayden Stevenson.

Power plays were heavily in favour of Portage. They went 3 for 7 which included two 5-on-3 goals. The Kings ended the evening at 1 for 4.

Ian Lee (17/20) and Mathias Savoie (12/15) shared the loss in goal. They saw a total of 35 shots while their team fired 23 on the Terrier net.

Dauphin's final exhibition affair was their only loss of the pre season. Now they will get over a week off to prepare for the Tim Hortons Home Opener at Credit Union Place on Friday October 9th.
