Kings end 2022 with a single point

It was another thriller on Saturday night at Credit Union Place; however, this time, the Dauphin Kings didn’t come out with two points.

Finishing 2022 on home ice, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines came from behind in a 5-4 shootout win over the Kings. Despite the loss, Dauphin ends the first half with wins in four of their final five games and points in all five.

Carson Baptiste remained red-hot for the Wolverines as he opened up the scoring before Ethan Williment tied up the game for Dauphin as it was 1-1 after 20 minutes.

Andrew Boucher and Boone Mathison would score shorthanded early for Waywayseecappo in the second as they took a 3-1 lead. Dauphin would storm back as Jakob Brook scored in his third straight game and Alex Senf also scored in the midway frame as it was 3-3 after 40 minutes.

Matthew Gough was then sprung away on a breakaway and he made no mistake to give Dauphin a 4-3 lead with just more than 12 minutes left in the game. With their net empty and on a power play late in the game, Nolan Grier would score his 11th of the season to tie it and force overtime. No goals were scored in the extra five minutes.

Sean Williams would score the winner in overtime for Dauphin and Grier also scored. Dauphin drops to 18-12-2-1 with the loss while Waywayseecappo is now 17-7-3-2. Dauphin and the Wolverines both have 39 points.
