Kings Drop Second Straight

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings gave up a 2-1 lead and dropped their second straight game Friday night, a 3-2 decision to the Portage Terriers.

The Kings got out to a 1-0 and then a 2-1 lead but couldn't hold on. Cayden Glover (4) opened the scoring for Dauphin on the man advantage in the first period and then in the second Madden Murray (1) regained the lead for his team. However the Terriers would score late in the second period and early in the third to edge the Kings in the contest.

Dauphin's penalty troubles cost them as the Terriers scored twice on the Power Play. Portage's Penalty Kill was also solid, going 3 for 4 Friday.

Cole Sheffield suffered the loss in goal, stopping 23 of the 26 shots he faced. His counterpart Mitchell Kathler stopped 33 of 35.

The loss drops the Kings to 4-2-0-0 on the young season. Next up for Dauphin is a contest with the Winnipeg Freeze, but not until next Saturday. The Kings will get some time to refocus after falling in two straight games after a 4-0-0-0 start to the year. Game time Saturday (Oct. 12) is 7:30pm and it's sponsored by the Dauphin Fire Department!
