Kings Drop Penalty Filled Affair To Nighthawks
DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings struggled on the Penalty Kill and it cost them in a 5-1 loss to the Niverville Nighthawks Sunday.
In total the Kings took 38 minutes in penalties with Niverville gaining nine man advantages.
In the first Dauphin got in to penalty trouble but were able to stay afloat. The score after 20 was 0-0 but Niverville out shot the Kings 12-5.
The second period saw the Kings continue to take penalties and they would give up three goals in the first three and a half minutes of the frame, falling behind 3-0. The Nighthawks would add one more late to make it 4-0 after 40.
The final frame saw the Kings score with Ty Pratte notching his fourth of the year on the man advantage. The Nighthawks would also score in the third to make the final 5-1.
Special Teams were heavily in favour of Niverville. The Nighthawks went 4 for 9 while Dauphin went 1 for 6 with the last three Power Plays of those six coming late in the game.
Shots were 43-30 for Niverville with Hunter Bauer suffering the loss in net. Bauer played well despite giving up five goals.
Dauphin is now 23-18-1-0 and remain second in the West Division.
