Kings Drop 9-2 Decision To Portage

DAUPHIN, MB - A bad first and third period ended up doing the Kings in in a 9-2 loss to the Portage Terriers Tuesday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin gave up three goals in the opening seven minutes to fall behind 3-0. After the third goal against the Kings responded when Grady Hobbs picked up his sixth of the season, shorthanded. Brennan Kitchen started the game but was replaced by goaltender Justin Anderson after giving up three goals on nine shots.

In the second period the Kings played well but gave up the only two goals against, falling behind 5-1 after 40.

Dauphin would get the third period's first goal when Ian Briscoe snapped a shot into the top corner for his third of the campaign on the Power Play. After that goal it was all Portage as the Terriers would add four unanswered to make it a 9-2 affair.

In the end Justin Anderson gave up six goals on 47 shots. The Kings had 32 shots on the Portage net Tuesday night.

Dauphin's Special Teams scored twice while the Terriers tallied once on the man advantage in the second period.

The loss puts the Kings at 12-36-2 on the season, they'll look to rebound against the Terriers on Friday when they face them in Portage. After that Dauphin heads to Steinbach on Saturday. The Kings' next home game happens on Saturday February 17th when they take on the Steinbach Pistons.
